30 students received financial aid from UPM Royal Chancellor

SERDANG, June 24 – UPM Chancellor, His Royal Highness Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah presented Hari Raya financial aid to the poor, orphans and converts comprising 30 UPM students, here.

His Royal Highness who is also Selangor Sultan, gave away the financial contribution at a breaking of fast and Solat Tarawih which were held at UPM Mosque, and attended by about 1,000 UPM staff and students.

The aid in the form of research bursary and Wakaf Ilmu UPM were presented to 19 students, comprising individuals, UPM corporate partners and university staff.



The financial assistance were received from UPM’s Office of Registrar represented by Dato’ Wan Azman Wan Omar (RM176,520) and other representatives comprising UPM Secretary,  Zulkiflee Othman (RM221,910; Sumbangan Umum (Wakaf), Director of Pusat Islam Universiti, Dr. Razali Othman (RM279,880); Bank Rakyat (RM20,000); Etiqa Takaful Berhad, Kuala Lumpur (RM120,000) and Koperasi UPM, Dr. Dasrilsyah Syahrial (RM10,000).

Tan Sri Datuk Dr. Ahmad Tajuddin Ali, meanwhile, presented UPM Holdings’ business tithes payment, totaling RM243,200 for the year 2015.

Wakaf Ilmu is set up to facilitate UPM staff and students as well as nearby residents and alumni in making financial contributions based on wakaf concept for the sponsorship of academic activities, research and in pursuit of knowledge at UPM. – UPM.
