Dr. Hafidzi receives Maulidur Rasul Award

PUTRAJAYA - Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hafidzi Mohd. Noor from Faculty of Agriculture, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), received the Maulidur Rasul Award 1436/2015, in conjunction with the national Maulidur Rasul (Prophet Muhammad’s birthday) celebration at the Putra Mosque, Putrajaya on January 3, 2015 recently.

Dr. Hafidzi, one of nine other recipients who received the award from Deputy Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, took home a cash prize of RM20,000, a trophy and a certificate.



Hafidzi has been named as the recipient for his efforts as the Aqsa Syarif Berhad chairman, a fundraising non-governmental organization (NGO) that provides humanitarian aids such as medical supplies, food and education to Palestinian temporary camps in Beirut, Jordan and Syria.

"This award is not privately owned but in fact for the Palestinian liberation struggle and the release of the Al-Aqsa mosque.

"I dedicate this award to the fighters and the people who have been working tirelessly to ensure that the freedom of the Palestinians, the Muslim’s holy land, including the third mosque (Al-Aqsa mosque) will be restored one day," he explained.

Besides Dr. Hafidzi, among other Maulidur Rasul Award recipients were university academics, Assoc. Prof. Sharifah Dr. Haayati Syed Ismail, Datuk Saleh Mad and Datuk Abdul Mahamud; nasyid singer, Nazrey Johari; freelance speaker, Muhammad Abdullah; Assistant Secretary of the National Security Council, Colonel Mohd. Sakri Husin and paralympic athlete, Mohd. Azlan Mat Lazim.

Chief Imam of the National Mosque, Tan Sri Syaikh Ismail Muhammad emerged as the Anugerah Perdana Maulidur Rasul 1436/2015 recipient.
