Dr. Noor Ain receives international IEEE WIE-ILC travel award

SERDANG,  June 7 - A Senior Lecturer of the Department of Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Dr. Noor Ain Kamsani was recently selected to attend the 3rd IEEE Women in Engineering International Leadership Conference (WIE-ILC) in San Jose, California, USA.

She was offered the IEEE Council on Electronic Design Automation (CEDA) conference travel award to attend the conference which took place from May 23 to 24, 2016.

CEDA offered travel awards in support of three participants to attend the conference. Two others were Prof. Dr. Ramalatha Marimuthu from Kumaraguru College of Technology, India, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eli Bozorgzadeh from University of California, USA.

The goal of this award is to enhance diversity in electronic design automation (EDA), in particular, to help increase the number of women and the minorities for leadership positions in academia and industry in the EDA field.

The conference which attracted more than 1,200 delegates, provided opportunities for them to meet and discuss with inspiring women CEOs coming from the heart of the Silicon Valley who have made it to the top of their careers.

Dr. Noor Ain said the conference emphasized on women leadership in the field of engineering, with speakers and presenters of working papers for the main plenary session were CEOs from the Silicon Valley.

“It was very inspiring, I got to meet those in the same field, those who have made it and those who are about to kick off their career.

“I also had the opportunity to witness the latest in technology where they also shared their respective companies’ experiences to promote their innovations,” she said. – UPM.
