SERDANG, May 18 - More than 4,000 jobs in various fields are up for offer at 2016 Career Expo held by the Centre For Entrepreneurial Development and Graduate Employability (CEM), Uniiversiti Putra Malaysia (UPM).
This annual programme is held to enhance graduates’ employability and availability of labour as well as to increase the number of UPM graduates with entrepreneurship attributes.
CEM Director, Dr. Mass Hareeza Ali said the expo could be a platform for graduates to secure jobs according to their respective areas of specialization.
“This is the best opportunity to look for jobs with companies through direct meetings and interactions.
“More than 50 private and public companies are participating in the expo.
“The jobs offered are in various sectors such as manufacturing, plantation, engineering, hotels, finance, services and retail,” he said.
UPM Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs & Alumni), Datuk Dr. Mohamad Shatar Sabran said the expo was held in line with the university’s vision for 80 per cent of its students who graduated at its convocation this year to secure an employment.
The two-day UPM-level CEM expo also featured interesting and fun activities for visitors including lucky draws, talks on entrepreneurship and careers and personality care. Goodies were also given away for free.
The event serves as a comprehensive career programme which allows discussion to be held and sharing of information on careers between companies and agencies with UPM graduates as well as students from other higher learning institutions. – UPM.
