January 5th, 2024, SERDANG - How to manage fabric waste? Some suggest recycling efforts. Indeed, besides paper, aluminum cans, and glass, clothing can also be recycled.
Recycling is one of the efforts that brings us closer to the natural environment. Many may not know that the natural textile decomposition process releases methane, a dangerous greenhouse gas and a major contributor to global warming.
Therefore, the Graduate School takes the initiative to welcome Graduate School staff to bring in used fabrics that are still in good condition but no longer in use to be collected and sent to the Recycling Center, Tasik Serdang Ria. Fabric remnants, traditional Malay dresses (baju kurung), t-shirts, and headscarves are among the items that have been collected. Used fabric materials were collected in the Putra Sarjana Room, School of Graduate Studies at 9:00 in the morning. A representative from the School of Graduate Studies Club has delivered all the collected used fabrics to the Recycling Center at Tasik Serdang Ria.
The implementation of this program is expected to support ongoing efforts to reduce global warming by avoiding the generation of carbon gas from landfill sites and the incineration of waste.
