SERDANG, Oct 23 - “I want to have a degree and at the same time, own a business.”

That was the resolution embedded deep in Nor EizzahYusoff’s mind the day she stepped foot into Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) until today when she received her Bachelor of Science (Food Preparation) degree at UPM’s 40th Convocation.

She said it’s not easy to juggle time between studying and running a business if it is not accompanied by a strong will.

While pursuing her studies in UPM, Nor Eizzah, 23, set up three kiosks at Kolej 13, Pusat Asasi and the Faculty of Economics And Management.

“The sufferings - only I, myself, know….I almost gave up on my studies but with the support of my parents, friends and lecturers, I went through all that and continued with my studies.

“I was determined to do business because through such ventures, I can help create job opportunities for others,” she said, adding that she hired nine workers, plus three UPM students as part-timers to run her kiosks.

Her daily morning routine before attending lectures is to go to the kiosks to see for herself the preparations made by her workers.

“Praise be to Allah, today, I have achieved what I have set for…a degree and a business,” she said, adding that she aspired to become a successful businesswoman. – UPM
