The recognition has equalized the teacher education programme at UPM with other TEAC-accredited programmes at several well-known universities in the U.S., such as University of Virginia, University of Nebraska, University of Michigan, Temple University and Rutgers University.

Accreditation received for the Bachelor of Education programme, has culminated UPM as an excellent higher education institution in producing outstanding Bachelor of Education graduates at the international level and the university also aims to remain committed in providing quality education to students.

UPM Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mohd Fauzi Ramlan received the accreditation certificate from the President of the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP), James G. Cibulka here.

Prof. Fauzi, said the accreditation process involved a comprehensive process that has been underway for three years to meet the standard criteria set by TEAC, the body which is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Council on Higher Education Accreditation, U.S.A.

"Any university that has received this recognition must go through the process of monitoring by TEAC for five consecutive years to maintain the accreditation certification," he said.
