UPM honours excellent staff at MGP and Workers Day celebrations

SERDANG, May 10 – The Registrar Office of Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) presented 11 awards to excellent staff in conjunction with the Gemilang Putra event and Workers Day 2016 celebration recently.

UPM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Datin Paduka Dr. Aini Ideris expressed hope for more university staff to equip themselves with skills and knowledge and better themselves with good personality traits and values so that they will remain relevant with the present time.

“Although we are assessed by the Key Performance Indicator (KPI) in the management of our performance, we should continue to strengthen integrity, with emphasis on quality, and not to be left behind so as to remain relevant with changing time and the university’s performance,” she said.

UPM Registrar, Dato’ Wan Azman Wan Omar said both events which were held simultaneously were important as a token of appreciation and gratitude by the university for its staff and officers who had contributed immensely, with loyalty and dedication.

“I am optimistic that the awards will spur and motivate UPM staff and officers to continue with their hard work and diligence to increase productivity and quality of work,” he said.



Gemilang Putra was held in recognition of university staff and officers who displayed excellent performance in 2015. Five categories of awards were introduced, including Anugerah Jasamu Dikenang which were presented to eight officers who had passed away.

Apart from that, Anugerah Jasa Putra was awarded to 191 officers who had retired, Anugerah Setia Putra to 21 officers who had served 20 years at UPM, Anugerah Bakti Putra to 93 officers who had served for 30 years at UPM and Anugerah Perkhidmatan Cemerlang (Excellent Service Award) to 485 officers who had served the university diligently in 2015.

Six categories of awards were presented in conjunction with Workers Day celebration - Anugerah Tokoh Pekerja (Exemplary Worker Award) (P&P Akademik) (P&P Academic) which was received by Prof. Dato’ Dr. Abu Bakar Salleh and Anugerah Tokoh Pekerja (Exemplary Worker Award) (P&P Bukan Akademik)(P&P Non-Academic) by Chek Zan Kasah.
