UPM ranked 103rd by Times Higher Education BRICS & Emerging Economies

SERDANG,  Dec 3 - Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) recorded a striking and remarkable achievement when it was listed in the 103rd position out of 200 top international universities by the Times Higher Education BRICS & Emerging Economies  Rankings 2016.

The ranking was announced on the The World University Rankings’ website at https://www.timeshighereducation.com/world-university-rankings/2016/brics-and-emerging-economies.

UPM Vice Chancellor Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mohd. Fauzi Ramlan said UPM’s ranking in THE BRICS & Emerging Economies is an indication of its stunning and significant achievement when it was placed among the top 200 institutions of higher learning from 48 countries.

UPM scored an overall of 24.2 points, with its performance breakdown at Teaching 
(25.3), International Outlook  (50.1), Industry Income (34.2), Research (20.9), and Citations (10.2).

The Times Higher Education BRICS & Emerging Economies Rankings 2016 only onducts rankings on institutions of higher learning from 48 nations, classified by the

FTSE as emerging economies (“Advanced Emerging”, “Secondary Emerging” or “Frontier”), including “BRICS” countries such as Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.

But institutions from only 35 of these countries made the final top 200 list.

“Therefore, the position of your institution in the ranking best research-led universities in the developing world is a significant achievement,” THE Rankings editor, Phil Baty said in a statement which was issued to UPM to notify the latter about its success – UPM.
