MASTER OF APPLIED STATISTICS  (Coursework)

Master of Applied Statistics is a 40 credit postgraduate programme by coursework inclusive of a 6 credit mini project. The objective of this programme is to produce graduates who are knowledgeable and skillful in statistics and also offers an opportunity for advanced studies and career development in the field of statistics. It offers a curriculum that provides a balanced approach to the training and education of statistics professionals. This programme prepares students with advanced knowledge and professional expertise through coursework and application. It exposes them to the latest developments in the field of Applied Statistics. Graduates from this field can have career opportunities in planning, management, research, academia and related industries. A student pursuing a Master of Applied Statistics may complete the programme in a minimum period of one year and a maximum period of three years.

 MASTER IN MATHEMATICAL SCIENCES  (Coursework)

Master in Mathematical Sciences is a 40 credit postgraduate programme by coursework inclusive of a 6 credit master dissertation. The objective of this programme is to produce graduates who are competitive, knowledgeable and skillful in Mathematics and also offers an opportunity for advanced studies and career development in Mathematics. This programme emphasizes the theory and applications of mathematics so that the students will be able to apply the knowledge for career advancement in any related professions in the public or private sector. Graduates will also be well prepared to further their studies at the doctoral program. A student pursuing a Master in Mathematical Sciences (Coursework) may complete the programme in a minimum period of one year and a maximum period of two years.

MASTER IN ANALYTICAL CHEMISTRY (Coursework)

The programme consists of two semesters and is a combination of course work (36 credits) and research (6 credits). The goal of this program is to produce professional chemists with in-depth knowledge and skills in chemical analysis. They should also be able to think creatively and innovatively and efficiently in information management with good technical and analytical skills. The program is design to produce knowledgeable and research-oriented chemists that are adept for innovation and advanced learning. They will be able to immerse themselves in a variety of careers that require knowledge and skills in chemical analysis in the public and private sectors.

MASTER OF TROPICAL BIOLOGY (Coursework)

The program consists of three semesters and is a combination of coursework (34 credits) and research (6 credits). The goals of the program are to produce: (i) professional, highly qualified and competent researchers and administrative/executive officers in the field of sustainable biology, (ii) academicians who are capable of carrying out advanced study and lifelong learning as well as capable of applying analytical skills in solving problems related to tropical biology, and (iii) tropical biology-related industry entrepreneurs with deep knowledge and high technical skills.

MASTER IN MATERIALS PHYSICS (Coursework)

Master in Materials Physics is a 40-credit coursework based graduate program including 6 credits of dissertation (3 credits for each of the 2 semesters). Objective of this program is to produce graduates who are knowledgeable and skilful in the physics of materials. This program also offers an opportunity for advanced studies and career development in the related fields. Career options for graduates of this program are wide ranging from government to private sectors related to materials physics. Teaching and learning are based on both conventional and modern approaches including lecture, tutorial, laboratory work, project and assignment, case study, seminar, critical comment and dissertation. A student may complete the study of this program in a minimum period of 2 semesters and a maximum period of 6 semesters. Activities of teaching and learning are conducted on weekend or evening during weekdays for the convenience of those who have work commitment.
