THESIS SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS



To improve the efficiency of thesis delivery to examiners, the School of Graduate Studies, effective from 11th November 2013, is implementing a new submission requirement: the submission of the e-thesis (electronic thesis). This copy may be sent to examiners upon request. Further to this, some necessary changes have been made to the thesis submission requirements. This affects the overall thesis submission requirements both for the purpose of examination, and after Senate approval.

These new requirements are effective from 20 January 2014

Please refer to the thesis submission requirements as stated below:

A.   THESIS SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR EXAMINATION (GS-15a / GS-15b)

  1. Four (4) hard copies for PhD/three (3) hard copies for Master and one (1) CD of a PDF version of the thesis, together with four (4) hard copies and one (1) CD of a PDF of the Text Similarity Search Report
  2. The PDF version of the thesis must be organized in a single file which contains the following information:
    • TITLE PAGE, ETC. (contains the Title page, Copyright Page, Abstracts, Acknowledgements, Approval sheets, Declaration Form, Table of Contents, List of tables, List of figures, and List of abbreviations, Notations/Glossary of Terms)
    • CHAPTER 1 (and so on)  
    • REFERENCES
    • APPENDICES
    • BIODATA

B.   THESIS SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS AFTER SENATE APPROVAL (GS-16b)

Two (2) hard copies in hard cover (single-spaced and printed on both sides) and one (1) CD of a PDF version of the thesis in a single file.  The CD copy of the PDF version must be organized in a single file. Please refer to the following for specific details:

1. There should be double spaces between paragraphs and sections.

2. All the rest should be single spaced.

3. 80gm paper should be used for the printing of the thesis to enhance the quality of printing on both sides of the paper.


Note:

  • You are also required to submit a bound copy of the thesis to every member of your supervisory committee.
  • You are advised not to use software for graphics and diagrams which may complicate conversion and documents transmission.
